Overview
ProductSight (“ProductSight,” “we,” “us”) provides a Shopify application that monitors competitor prices and alerts merchants when they are undercut. This policy explains what data we collect when you install and use the app, how we use it, and the choices you have. It applies to the app and this website.
Information we collect
We collect only what we need to run the service:
- Store information. When you install the app from Shopify, we receive your store domain, store name, primary contact email, and plan, along with the access token Shopify issues to the app.
- Your product catalog. With your permission, we read your products, variants, SKUs, and prices to compare them against competitors. If you enable automatic repricing, we also update your product prices according to the rules you configure — and nothing else in your catalog.
- Competitor data. We collect publicly available product and pricing information from competitor storefronts you choose to track. We access only public pages — never password-protected or customer-specific content.
- Technical and usage data. Server logs, IP address, and basic device/browser information, used for security, diagnostics, and website analytics (see “Cookies and analytics” below).
We do not access your customers’ personal information, orders, or payment details, and the app does not require those permissions.
How we use information
- Operate the service — monitor prices, detect undercuts, send the alerts you configure, and apply automatic repricing when you enable it.
- Maintain and secure the app, prevent abuse, and debug issues.
- Handle billing through Shopify and provide customer support.
- Understand aggregate usage to improve the product.
We do not sell your data or use it for third-party advertising.
Your catalog and your activity in the app are never visible to other merchants. Data we receive through Shopify’s Admin API stays within your account and is used only to serve you; it is never used to power features, suggestions, or statistics for anyone else. When the app shows you competitor prices, they come from that store’s public storefront — the same information anyone on the web can see.
How we share information
We share data only with service providers that help us run ProductSight:
- Shopify — the platform the app runs on and through which billing is processed.
- Infrastructure & hosting (e.g. Cloudflare) — to serve the app and website.
- Analytics & diagnostics — Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity on this website (subject to your consent where required — see “Cookies and analytics”), and Sentry for error reporting. These providers process technical data such as IP address and browser information on our behalf.
- Notification providers — when you enable email, Slack, SMS, or webhook alerts, we share the minimum needed to deliver those messages to the provider or endpoint you configure.
We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights, users, or the public.
Cookies and analytics
The app itself runs inside the Shopify Admin and does not set marketing cookies. This website uses Google Analytics to understand aggregate traffic and Microsoft Clarity to understand how visitors interact with pages (for example heatmaps and session replays). We use these tools to improve the site — never for advertising, advertising profiles, or cross-site tracking, and we do not sell your data.
If you visit from the EU/EEA, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, analytics cookies stay off until you accept them in the cookie banner, and you can change your choice at any time via “Cookie settings” in the footer. Google and Microsoft process this data as our service providers under their own privacy policies. We also use Sentry to capture errors on this website so we can fix them.
Data retention and deletion
We retain your store information and price history for as long as the app is installed, and for a limited period afterward to support re-installation and meet legal obligations. When you uninstall the app, Shopify notifies us and we delete or de-identify your data, honoring Shopify’s mandatory shop/redact and customer-data webhooks. You can request deletion at any time by contacting us.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example, under GDPR or CCPA), you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise these rights, email us at support@productsight.io. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law.
Security
We protect data with encryption in transit, access controls, and the principle of least privilege. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we work to safeguard your information and review our practices regularly.
International transfers
We may process and store data in countries other than your own. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for such transfers.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will revise the “Last updated” date above and, for material changes, provide notice through the app or by email.
